Dubarry Australia proudly brings the Dubarry of Ireland collection to the Australian market, offering premium country and sailing footwear, outerwear and apparel suited to Australian conditions and lifestyles.
History
Dubarry was founded in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland in 1937. Originally established as a joint venture between the local Chamber of Commerce and the Cullen family, the brand drew on traditional footwear manufacturing expertise from Northampton, England.
Over the decades, Dubarry has become internationally recognised for producing premium performance footwear and apparel that combine technical innovation with timeless style.
Dubarry was the first brand worldwide to obtain a GORE-TEX® licence for the manufacture of leather sailing boots, introducing waterproof and breathable leather footwear designed specifically for marine conditions. This innovation later evolved into the iconic Galway Country Boot, which remains one of Dubarry’s most recognised styles today.
Headquarters
Dubarry trades globally under the names Dubarry and Dubarry of Ireland. The company headquarters are located in Ballinasloe, County Galway, Ireland, where product design, development and quality control continue to be managed.
Dubarry Australia operates as the Australian distributor and retailer for Dubarry of Ireland, bringing the collection to customers throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Products
The products within our range are all designed by our innovative and creative in-house design team based in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. Our designers use a compilation of traditional and cutting-edge materials and product technologies. These designs along with our superior craftsmanship culminate in a range of products that make up our Spring Summer and Autumn Winter collections. Quality control is managed centrally by a team at our headquarters in Ballinasloe.
Dubarry was the first brand worldwide to obtain a GORE-TEX® licence for the manufacture of leather sailing boots, with the creation of the a waterproof and breathable leather sailing boot in the early 1990’s “The Shamrock Boot”. The modification of this design for use in country pursuits led to the creation of the “Galway Country Boot” which remains largely unchanged to this day. These boots and the full range of clothing targeted to similar audiences are sold worldwide.
Manufacturing
Dubarry ceased manufacturing at their location in Ballinasloe in November 2004. The boots and deck shoes are now made by contract manufacturing partners in Portugal. Dubarry’s clothing is manufactured by a range of contract manufacturing partners worldwide. Product design and Quality Control are managed centrally from the Head Office in Ballinasloe.
